Summary
Camperdown and Templeton are two of the gems of Dundee, situated on the north-western edge of the city, just beyond the Kingsway (A90) ringroad at the A923 junction. This makes them ideal as a stopping-off place for a walk, if you're driving to or from Aberdeen, as well as providing a variety of easy hiking routes for local residents and tourists. There are woodland walks and nature trails, areas of open grassland to run around on, and even a golf course, wildlife centre and large play area. Another small country park, Clatto, is adjacent to the north of Templeton.
If some in your party would prefer to go to the cinema or ice arena, these are located next to Camperdown, and you can meet up after your hike!
- My memories are of many visits for walks with members of the family, and training runs round the nature trail
- The best bit for me is the top corner of Camperdown, where the tall beech trees are like a green cathedral above the trail
- The most peaceful spot is the secluded circular trail through Templeton
- It's also the venue for the annual Dundee Flower and Food Festival held at the start of September
- There are no words of warning - just enjoy the surroundings
