The site is not restricted to the kind of walks you can only undertake safely wearing a pair of heavy boots, with a rucksack and woolly hat on!
Cities are popular places to visit around the world, and usually the best way to explore them is on foot. But if you are new to a city - on holiday or on business - how do you know which are the best parts to visit? You can ask a friend who's been before - and Walking Stories can put you in touch with a growing community of people, some of whom may be able to help.
There are now walks for several cities in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima). There's a story about Tromso, north of the Arctic Circle, and a link to a story about a district of Paris.
There are walks in and around Dundee in eastern Scotland - and with its range of visitor attractions it well deserves to be included along with these more famous locations. Have a read, and find out more.
The latest additions are for San Francisco - around the city itself, and in the mountains within reach of an easy day-trip.
We'd welcome your stories of walks you have enjoyed around your favourite town or city.
And if you are visiting a city, often you want to get out to the countryside for a day. We are indicating which walks are within easy reach of city centres. Check the list of walks under each country, and look for those with the letter "D".
We'll also be adding a page here with an alphabetical listing of cities and the links to relevant walks in the city and nearby.
