Summary
These two hills lie within the built-up area of the City of Dundee, providing the opportunity for some tough hiking routes during your lunch break or as a healthy alternative to retail therapy! The Dundee Law is the more prominent feature, its hilltop memorial visible from the centre of town.
For those wanting a longer hike, the Law and Balgay can be combined in a half-day walk, described here. You will enjoy a visit to Britain's only full-time public observatory and, on a clear day, the finest view of any city in Britain. Both hilltops can also be reached by car, if you are just looking for a gentle walk with a view. You can also combine these with The Miley.
- My memories are mainly of lunchtime runs up through the peaceful woods of Balgay Hill, a real break from the office!
- The best bits are the view from the Law, and the woods on Balgay
- The funniest aspect is that I saw the Law from a distance for many years before finding the way up
- The only words of warning would be to take either walk gently - these are real hills
