France is one of Europe's largest and most varied countries, renowned for its varied landscapes, its culture and its cuisine.

We hope to add a number of original walking stories and photos in the near future, covering hiking from the Alps to the Pyrenees.  In the meantime, here is a link to a fascinating walk around one of the suburbs of Paris, from the New York Times of 27 February 2005, by Elaine Sciolino.

She says: “This half-mile street, mostly uphill, is the spine of a neighborhood that offers magic in a compressed time and space.”  Must be worth a look next time you’re in the city.
