Summary
Crombie and Monikie Country Parks lie within a couple of miles of each other, north of the A92 Dundee-Arbroath road. The parks are within Angus, and well managed by Angus Council, but are also popular with residents of Dundee and visitors to the area. Both have good play areas and barbecue facilities, with lots of wildlife and programmes of events. They provide easy walking trails through woodland and beside the man-made lochs that are the central feature of both parks.
The parks are not easy to link with longer walking routes, except on roads, but there is an attractive route from Monikie west for about 2 miles (3 km) to the B978 at Lovehall, just north of Wellbank village. A good country walk, but can be muddy at times.
- The most memorable aspect was the clarity of light and views on a recent visit to Monikie
- The best bit is the richness of habitats around Crombie
- The worst bit is when you're running round the lakes at Monikie into the wind!
- Best for kids are the adventure playgrounds
- There are no words of warning - just enjoy the surroundings at any time of year
