There are loads of students who go hiking, in small groups, or with university and college walking clubs.  If you're studying geography or geology, it's usually par for the course.

Long hikes, short walks round lively city centres, routes to little villages in faraway places worldwide - we want to hear about them, and see your photos!

The first student walk has appeared, written by Owen - the student formerly known as stagnant.but.not.lazy.  He's emerged from the stagnation imposed by pressures of studying in Edinburgh to write the story of a climb up Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain, with some of his mates.
