Who the site is for

Walking Stories is for anyone who enjoys walking, whether it is a gentle stroll along a riverbank after a pub lunch, or a carefully planned winter expedition in the mountains.

Whatever your age, wherever you live, and provided you have the most basic level of fitness, you can gain some pleasure from a walk.

So the scope is vast – and as the site develops, smaller groups may emerge who prefer certain types of walks, or who live in a particular area.  We start out by recognising that younger walkers don’t always see things the same way as their parents, and a separate section will bring together material specifically for them.

Additionally, the walks are categorised into three levels of difficulty, and three types of location, so you can narrow down your search easily.

And even if your best walking days are behind you, or the weather outside is awful, you can be an armchair rambler and enjoy reading other people’s hiking experiences.
