As well as individual membership, walking and hiking clubs can create their own spaces on Walking Stories. The first of these has been set up for the Easy Walking Club in Scotland, and they are testing out the functions available to them. Other clubs are welcome to take a space - and currently this is FREE just like individual membership.
This is how it works
The list of club names will come up when an individual registers to join Walking Stories. When he or she clicks on the relevant club name, the registration request will go to the member of the club nominated as administrator for the club space, to approve.
Club members will then get additional options to post images in the Gallery, and News items, which can only be seen by other members of that club. They can also comment on News items posted by other members.
This means that the Club can:
- build up a record of images of walks it has completed
- post news items covering any topic including the list of walks for the year, forthcoming events, favourite recipes, and how much money is left in the budget!
- a news item could be posted proposing lift sharing arrangements for a forthcoming walk, and other members could then send in comments, offering lifts
The administrator can send out e-mails to members notifying them of arrangements for the weekend walk, or anything else, with a link to the relevant page on Walking Stories or another website
There can be more than one administrator, so that the job can be shared, and messages keep moving when the main administrator is away on holiday.
This is how your club can join
A club secretary or chairman should e-mail Walking Stories to request a space.....
