There are lots of great places to walk in Greece, both on the mainland and the islands. This page provides links to some fascinating stories published elsewhere which Walking Stories users may find useful.
You'll get a good idea of what it's like walking in the White Mountains of Crete from this Guardian hiking article by Nicky Holford - written in 1999, but unlikely to have changed much since then!
And there's an insight into walking routes on the smaller island of Halkidiki in this walking story by Ed Douglas from the Guardian in 2001.
Go to the detailed story page to read about Zagoria on the north-western mainland - a wonderful region for walking, including a trail from Tsepelovo to the Vikos Gorge, reputedly the deepest in the world!
