This quiet coastal village is just the place for a relaxing holiday by the sea. But if the daily dose of sunbathing and swimming in the shallow waters of the bay gets a bit tedious, why not go for a walk in the surrounding countryside, or a hike in the hills?
We stayed there in July, with non-stop sunshine and temperatures in the low 30s, but it was still possible to enjoy a circular walk to the nearby settlement of Ano Katelios along a good farm track, quiet roads and a section of the beach. It's effectively a circuit of the perimeter of the basin with Katelios and the coastline on the southern edge.
- The best time to walk is before breakfast, when it's still cool
- Or go in the evening, before your meal
- A spring or autumn holiday would be ideal for walks like this, but it can still be a pleasure in the height of summer.
