Auchterhouse Hill and the Sidlaws (near Dundee), in Angus, Scotland
The Sidlaw Hills overlook Dundee from the north, about 5 miles (8 km) from the centre of the city. The highest is Craigowl, rising to 455m, and crowned with communications masts. 1.5 miles (2.5 km) to the south-west is Auchterhouse Hill, reaching 426m. It is a well-defined summit, marked by the remains of a prehistoric hill-fort, and provides excellent views over Dundee and the surrounding countryside. The easiest route is from Balkello Community Woodland, just to the north of the Tealing to Auchterhouse road. Another route goes from the top of the road leading north steeply uphill out of Auchterhouse village.
