The Hosh and Glenturret Distillery, Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland
This is another of the walks featured in the Crieff Walks Leaflet. It takes in the lower slopes of the Knock, the open countryside around the golf course at Culcrieff, the nearby woodland, and Glenturret Distillery. You can start and finish at Crieff Hydro Hotel.
Although there are stretches of rough stony track and a short climb through woodland, it’s a relatively easy walk for anyone who is reasonably fit. If you get tired you can just take a little longer – it packs a lot of scenery into just a short distance.
- I will remember best the tranquility of the early summer morning
- The best bit was the terraced path towards the end, with a great view
- The worst bit was not having more time before breakfast to extend the route
- I hadn’t expected to meet a giant Famous Grouse at the distillery!
- The only word of warning would be to take care walking along the road from the distillery, in case of cars (this section can be avoided)
