Torres Del Paine National Park, Patagonia, Chile.
I took part in a Charity trek across Torres del Paine as part of a group of twenty one hikers. The trek was organised by Great Walks of the World on behalf of Aberlour Child Care Trust. www.aberlour.org.uk/
Trekking between 5 - 8 hours per day the group completed the famous W shaped trek camping and staying in refuges between the 27th Feb and 4th Mar 2007. Flying via Buenos Aires the group then flew the 4 hours to Calafate in Argentina before taking a 6 hour bus journey across the border into Chile and the Torres del Paine National Park.
The scenery was awesome and the trails well signposted. With many of us wearing kilts we met other trekkers from over 30 countries across the world. Over the course of the trek we encountered many different types of wildlife including Condors, Guanacos, Nandus, Foxes and Pumas.
The final days five hour ascent of Torres del Paine took the whole group to the lake at the base of the three Towers of Pain. One of the most awesome climbing destinations in the world.
