Pentland Hills, Penicuik, near Edinburgh, Scotland
Four of us, set off about 10 in the morning, with the intention of having a good brisk exploration of the Pentlands. The car park at Flotterstone Inn was reasonably busy but is only about 15 minutes south of Edinburgh City bypass. Amazing how quickly you can leave the city behind!
The weather was stunning - clear, crisp, cold, ice on the shady side of the hills, muddy in the sun.
We did three tops and returned by the same route meaning we had a decent work out for our 4 hours. As the sun dropped, so did the temperature and the wind got up.
The highlight for me was the view, see the pictures.
